This qualitative research study presents the therapy process over the course of one year for a group of developmentally delayed adolescents. Through a variety of novel narrative devices the author creates a vicarious experience for the readerBwho gets to know the group members as individuals and gain an understanding of their experiences. The study details how the improvisational essence of Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy is applied by contemporary practitioners in a group setting and demonstrates the value of an interactional, process-oriented therapy approach for developmentally delayed individuals. In addition, there is an analysis of various clinical uses of music in the group such as facilitating transitions, meeting group and individual needs simultaneously, increasing self-awareness, and enhancing interpersonal communication and relationships. 1997,  66 pages, $15.
