This qualitative research study presents the therapy process over the course of one year for a group of developmentally delayed adolescents. Through a variety of novel narrative devices the author creates a vicarious experience for the readerBwho gets to know the group members as individuals and gain an understanding of their experiences. The study details how the improvisational essence of Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy is applied by contemporary practitioners in a group setting and demonstrates the value of an interactional, process-oriented therapy approach for developmentally delayed individuals.
